This week has been an ordinary week, unless you count the fact that we took a couple of days out from school work to visit my Mum’s best friend and her children who live Nottingham. Needless to say we don’t see them very often, what with how far away from us they are and the fact that they attend school, so it’s always nice to see each other again.
Day of Adventure
Yesterday we had a Day of Adventure, when my parents take us out for the day. I haven’t really been enjoying them recently, but this one was awesome! We went to Barmouth for the day. It was pretty miserable weather while we were on the beach. I read and helped my little brothers make a massive sandcastle. After a picnic lunch of sandwiches, crisps, and pop, we went up to the funfair. The four of us children went on three rides. The Sizzler, where you spin around and get spun around and it feels like you’re going to smash into other seats, the roller coaster, which was rather small but still made me screams the first time I went down the slope, and the Waltzer, where you spin around and move around a very bumpy track. All the rides were very fun, but my favourite was the last. We finished off with ice creams and went home.
Haircuts
With school starting and my hair getting out of control, I was really glad when we had our hair cut, yesterday. Mum and Rosie also had haircuts, Rosie going for a bob and Mum just having it trimmed so she can grow it out. I had mine cut to shoulder length, the shortest I’ve ever had it since I was very little. I love my new hairstyle, and I find it very fitting to have it cut now, as I start my online lessons on the 9th of September, just over three weeks away.
Start of school
We started our first ‘school block’ this week. A school block is a period of six to eight weeks when we work the mornings of four days a week. This block we are doing roughly two tutoring periods a day. A tutoring period is when Mum helps us with a subject that we are learning. So I have only had time for two Maths tutoring periods, one Chemistry tutoring period, and one Astronomy tutoring period. All three are subjects I am planning to take at GCSE, along with English Language, English Literature, and Physics.
So far, apart from a few distractions in the form of my youngest brother, Alexander, it’s all going really well, and I’m really enjoying it.
End of Summer
It’s now officially the end of our summer holidays. I’ve just returned from a weekend camp, and am getting everything ready for when we have our lessons. I’m actually missing the first two days, Rosie and I are going to Edinburgh with Dad.
